Muhammad Mahdi Asifi

Ayatollah Muḥammad Mahdī al-Āṣifī (Arabic:محمد مهدی الآصفي, b. 1937 in Najaf, Iraq d. 2016 in Qom, Iran) pursued his education in hawza by taking classes of scholars like Imam Khomeini, Sayyid Abu al-Qasim al-Khoei, Muhammad Rida al-Muzaffar, Sayyid Muhsin al-Hakim and Mirza Hashim Amuli. He also studied at University of Baghdad and graduated with M.A. degree in Islamic Studies. Representative of Ayatollah Khamenei in Najaf, Secretary General of Ahl al-Bayt (a) World Assembly and combating against Ba'ath Party in Iraq are among his undertakings. Besides teaching in hawza, he wrote scores of books and articles including: Justarhayi dar Kalam-e Islami, al-Intizar al-Muwajjah, al-Ummah al-Wahidah wa al-Fitnah al-Ta'ifiyyah, Dar Ayina-ye Wahy Aya-ye Tathir, Maktab-e Ashura , 'Ishq-e Ilahi, Wazha-ye Mandigar, Intizar-e Puya, al-Madkhal ila Dirasah Nass al-Ghadir, Difa' az Ziyarat-e 'Ashura, Nukati Darbara-ye Hadith-e 'Unwan-e Basri az Imam-e Sadiq and Barrasi-ye Mafhum-e Mahdi-ye Nu'i wa Ithbat-e Didgah-e Tashayyu' dar Murid-e Hadrat-e Mahdi.[1]
