Kamāl al-Dīn wa Tamām al-Ni’mah (Arabic:کمال الدین و تمام النعمة) is a book in Arabic that includes narrated traditions from the infallibles regarding Imam Mahdi’s (a) occultation, his characteristics, and the era of the reappearance. It is written by Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Babawayh Qumi (aka. Al-Shaykh al-Saduq) and printed by a number of publications including Islam'iyyah, Dar al-Kitab al-Islamiyyah, Mu'assisa al-'Alami li al-Matbu'at and Al-Nashr al-Islami.

Book Overview

Kamal al-Din wa Tamam al-Na'mah is a collection of recorded and reliable narrations from the Prophet (s) and the twelve Imams (a) regarding Imam Mahdi (a) and his occultation. The author- who is a prominent Shi’a scholar- reveals, in its preface, that the only reason upon which he decided to write Kamal al-Din wa Tamam al-Ni'mah was a dream where he was informed by Imam Mahdi (a) to bring this book into being. Al-Shaykh al-Saduq builds his case by recognizing the belief in Imam Mahdi's (a) occultation as a conforming precedent reinforced by earlier occultations of Prophets Idris (a), Abraham (a), Joseph (a) and Moses (a). Later, he reviews narrations from Prophet Muhammad (s) and the twelve Imams (a) on the issue of occultation and its underlying philosophy. In another chapter which focuses on written communications with Imam Mahdi (a), signs of his reappearance and Imam Mahdi’s (a) rewarded titles are discussed. Further, the author makes references to names of those individuals who enjoyed a prolonged life, like that of Imam Mahdi (a), and those who met with him in person. Finally, the author responds to doubts raised by the Zaidiyyah and Kaysaniyah related to Imam Mahdi (a).
