Mahdī-ye Muntaẓar (Persian: مهدی منتظر, lit. the awaited Mahdi) is a book in Persian that focuses on addressing a few topics related to Mahdism through an analytical and narrative approach. It is written by Muhammad Jawad Khurasani and printed by Mihr Publications, Lahut Publications, Nur al-Asfia' and Nur al-Kitab.[1]

Introduction to the book

In this work, Muhammad Jawad Khurasani seems to immerse his audience in a detailed and expansive research on Imamate and particularly Imam Mahdi's (a) reappearance. Structurally, it enjoys a theological and hadith-oriented order in which some of the topics discussed include: reports on Imam Mahdi's (a) physical characteristics, his inherited possessions (from the Prophets), the four deputies (aka. al-Nuwwab al-Arba'a), distinctive aspects of the occultation, the Major Occultation, the Minor Occultation, length of the occultation, resolving doubts on the occultation, reported incidents during the occultation, universal and partial relief, inciting of seditions (fitnas)(on social, religious, educational, ethical and political level) before the reappearance, sedition affecting Shi'a communities, commentary on signs for the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (a) and insurgencies, people's obligations during the occultation and reappearance, quality of the reappearance, Imam Mahdi's (a) victory and his system of governing.[2]

Muhammad Jawad Khurasani

Ayatollah Muḥammad Jawād Khurāsānī (Persian: محمد جواد خراسانی, b. 1952, Mashhad, Iran) pursued his education in hawza by taking classes of scholars like Sayyid Abu l-Hasan Isfahani, Diya' al-Din Iraqi, Mirza Aqa Istahbanati, Sayyid Muhammad Brujini Isfahani and Sayyid Mahmud Husayni Shahrudi. He was tremendously active in the fight against Tudeh Party of Iran. Later as a teacher in seminary, he came to write scores of books including: Kashf al-Aayat, Maqtal al-Husayn, Hidayat al-Umma ila Ma'arif al-A'immah, Mahdi-e Muntazar, Ahi Suzan Baraye Muntaziran-e Imam Zaman, Al-Imamah inda al-Shi'ah al-Imamiyyah, Bayyina-ye Rahmat and 'Ala'im Dawra Akhir al-Zaman.[3]
