Rahbarī bar Farāz-e Qurūn (Persian: رهبری بر فراز قرون, lit. leadership over centuries) is the Persian translation of the book Bahth Hawl al-Mahdi (lit. discussions concerning al-Mahdi (a)) authored by Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr in Arabic. It discusses queries on Mahdism in a methodical approach. The Persian translation has been undertaken by Mustafa Shafeei and the foreword is written by Abd al-Jabbar al-Shararah. It is printed by Maw'ud-e Asr Publications publications.[1] t

Introduction to the Book

Per its preface, this work gives answers to some questions regarding the personality of Imam Mahdi (a) via a methodical approach. The translator outlines the approaches of researches on Imam Mahdi (a) into two groups: 1) those that employ a doubter-approach (for both past and present aspects) which, by the way, does not conform with Islam's overall approach in expressing one's opinion and 2) those that employ the approach of sympathizers who have made use of both intellectual (aqli) and transmitted (naqli) approaches to support their case. He explains the arguments of the proponents of the two approaches and considers the method of al-Sadr to be one that is argued intellectually and methodically regarding the herein subject matter. In a series of eight discussions the writer answers questions about the existence, longevity, merits, reappearance and the government of Imam Mahdi (a). Specifically, on the question of the prolonged lifespan of Imam Mahdi (a), in the author’s opinion, it is scientifically, practically, logically and philosophically plausible. Moreover, by considering the importance of Imam Mahdi's (a) mission and an occurrence so great and extraordinary, the creation of such a phenomenon in the course of existence for God Almighty is regarded as typical; similarly, the ascension of the Prophet (s) is not something out of the ordinary when we focus on the great mission he has been tasked with. In his view, the phenomenon of longevity is a miracle of Imam Mahdi (a).

The insistence on the leadership of a particular person such as the Imam (a), the road of perfection of the merits of the awaited leader and his external existence, the cause of delay in his reappearance, the change in the course of humanity destiny by one person, and the ways through which the world will be changed in the promised days are other questions that have been addressed in this work.'[2]
