Tārīkh-e Pas az Zuhūr (Persian: تاریخ پس از ظهور, lit: history beyond the Reappearance) is the Persian translation of the book Tarikh ma ba'd al-Zuhur in Arabic authored by Sayyid Muhammad al-Sadr. After studying the relevant traditions, events and happenings he critically analyzes events before the reappearance. It has been translated into Persian by Hasan Sajjadipur and has been published by Ma'wud 'Asr Publications.[1]
Overview of the Book
The introduction of this book states: 'whenever we come across the term 'history' we remember past events and expect to come across a set of events that have transpired in an earlier time. It is perhaps for the same reason that making use of the term 'history' for something that should happen in the future looks strange to us. In fact, the term 'history beyond the Reappearance' was first used by Sayyid Muhammad al-Sadr for the third volume of his 4-volume encyclopedia on the topic of Mahdism. We can realize the importance of history beyond the reappearance when we understand that not only is this history interesting, important and has educational value for us but also is challenging and filled with grey areas. This is because Islamic traditions which are the only reliable source of information on this topic only give a glimpse of what is to transpire and only give an overall picture of the heaven after reappearance. Martyr Sadr himself says: 'We have coined the name 'history beyond reappearance' for this work; since we intend to look at the history of humanity from the perspective of the time of the reappearance of the Imam (a) and the events that follow it. The reason why we focus on the signs of reappearance and on the event of reappearance itself is because these are the milestones for the history beyond reappearance'[2].
