Tārīkh al-Ghaybah al-Kubrā (Arabic: تاریخ الغیبة الکبری) is a book in Arabic that provides analysis on the Major Occultation. It is authored by Sayyid Muhammad al-Sadr. It is published by Ihiya' al-Kutub al-Islamiyah Institute[1].

Introduction to the Book

The basis for this work comprises of hadiths and narrations obtained from both Shi'a and Sunni sources. The author introduces two approaches for evaluating the Major Occultation. He argues that according to authentic hadiths, Imam Mahdi (a) was born and lives, awaiting reappearance. He later demonstrates the validity of his claim. He continues his discussion following three chapters: biography of Imam Mahdi (a) and his attributes, Muslims' and human communities’ struggle with incidents during Major Occultation, and signs of reappearance. He concludes by refuting the approach that considers evidence for the birth of Imam Mahdi (a) to be non-existent or insubstantial.
